My Role as a Teacher

My role in the classroom will be multi-faceted: a guide, cheerleader, mediator, role model, observer and leader. I will hold high expectations for all of my students. Through my words and my actions students will recognize the care and compassion I have for each of them. Every day I will make my expectations clear and demonstrate consistency in my classroom management. I will provide a balance between warmth and firm implementation of the agreed-upon rules. Partnerships with families will be formed to create cohesiveness between school and home. Regular communication in the form of newsletters, positive phone calls, emails, and conferences will be used. Family members will be encouraged to be active participants in our classroom.
I consider teaching an opportunity for continual growth. It is important to me that I self-reflect on the course of learning in my classroom and continuously look for ways to improve my methods. When difficult situations arise, I will collaborate with my peers or seek advice from administrators. I will better myself by participating in professional development courses and networking with other educators to gain new ideas and stay abreast of the latest research in my field. It is my hope to bring my love of learning into the classroom and pass that excitement on to my students. I will strive to provide the optimal environment for my students to help each of them reach their full potential.
